hanseatic city situated between 7 mountains. The city
is important due to the shipping industry at the port
Bryggen. You can take a cable car up to the top of Ulriken,
Bergen’s highest mountain. Bergen is the gateway
to the fjords. The fjords are Norway’s main attraction
and boat rides can be taken down them where you can see
the reflection of the beautiful snow capped mountains
in the calm deep water of the fjord.
Trondheim
Trondheim is a modern high-tech city that is also steeped
with history. St Olav was buried here in 1030 and a
cathedral Nidarosdomen was built on top of the grave.
This has made Trondheim an important city for pilgrims
to visit and seek miracle cures. Norway's monarchs
were traditionally crowned on this national shrine.
You can also see the Northern lights and the midnight
sun from Trondheim.
In Norway each home is said to possess a Nisse a
household spirit. Tradition states that on Christmas
Eve a bowl
of hot porridge is to be given to the spirit to keep
in check his mischievous nature and thank him for all
the good work been done over the year.
